We started Introduction to Communication Technologies today. The course has 12 students in it, and we went over the roster first thing. Then we looked at the syllabus and discussed the parameters of the course. Very few questions. I talked a little about what it means to be a Communication major, but didn’t belabor the point.

We started in on the course content, beginning with a discussion of the Shannan-Weaver model of communication. I believe they were familiar with it (at least, I hope they are). After that I discussed the technology eco-system as August Grant outlined it many years ago. I focused on the four factors that we will pay special attention to: enabling, limiting, motivating, and inhibiting factors.

That was it. Course adjourned until Wednesday.
